Arthur Creates and Co-Edits New Journal

(St. Petersburg, Fla.) January 29, 2009 - Kathryn Weedman Arthur, PhD, assistant professor of anthropology, will co-edit Ethnoarcheology, a journal she and Lisa Frink, assistant professor at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, created.

Left Coast Press, Inc. will publish the cross-cultural, peer-reviewed journal, due out in spring and fall starting this year.

The journal will provide practitioners with an intellectual platform to showcase and appraise research as well as foreground theoretical and methodological directions for the 21st century in the subdiscipline of ethnoarcheology.
 
In addition to research articles, the journal will contain book and other media reviews, periodic theme issues, and position statements by noted scholars.

“Since the 1970s Ethnoarcheology has been a growing area of study in anthropology, but it falls between the two subfields of cultural anthropology and archeology,” Arthur said. “As active researchers we noted, as have our colleagues, the absence of a periodic venue devoted to ethnoarcheological and experimental studies.”
